Shwegugale Pagoda was originally built in 1494 during King Byinnya Yan's reign and the stupa has an interior tunnel around its circumference with sixty-four Buddha statues. The Snake Monastery's huge 120-year-old Burmese python is the reincarnation of a monk from Hsipaw. Koe Thein Koe Than Pagoda has an interesting row of monk statues using different hand gestures along a dirt path. Four enormous Buddha statues are at Kyaik Pun Pagoda sitting back-to-back against a pillar and facing the cardinal points (north, south, east, and west). They were first built in 1476 by King Dhammazedi.
